SuperSport, the biggest sports broadcaster in Africa, brings viewers on DStv all the action from the PGA Tour’s 3M Open, which will be held at the TPC Twin Cities in Blaine, Minnesota, from Thursday 25 to Sunday 28 July 2024.

The 3M Open was first played in 2019, succeeding the 3M Championship which was played in Minnesota from 1993 to 2018. The defending champion is American Lee Hodges, who shot 260 (-14) to finish seven strokes clear of the field last year.

“It brings back so many good memories," said Hodges of his triumph in 2023 when he attended a media day earlier in July. "I came in a different way than last year as I was driving in, but as soon as I came through the gates, it all came back to me. I'm just super happy to be back.”

The 3M Open falls in an awkward space this year, being held between The Open Championship and the Olympic Games, but will nonetheless boast some of the world’s best players, including Tony Finau, Sahith Theegala, Sam Burns, Zach Johnson and Justin Rose.

The top two amateurs at the US Open in June at Pinehurst – Neal Shipley and Luke Clanton – have committed to play, as have the likes of Billy Horschel, Daniel Berger, Brandt Snedeker and Stewart Cink.

“Our field at this time has never been that strong with past winners," 3M Open tournament director Mike Welch said.

Welch predicts the FedExCup "70-50-30″ format will get players to add the 3M Open to their schedule late in the season.

The tournament is second-to-last before the playoffs. The top 70 at season's end earns a tour card for next year and a spot in the playoffs' first round. Top 50 in the second round earns a place in the tour's "signature" events and top 30 gets them into the FedExCup tour championship in Atlanta.

The TPC Twin Cities has a 7431-yard par 71 course and the purse for the 3M Open is $8.3million.

DStv is the ultimate destination for Golf fans, with an unparalleled selection of action from around the world. DStv Stream also allows viewers to watch their favourite golf players live anywhere, any time.
