Nigerian Idol Season 9: Theatre Week Ends in Suspense Over Final Top Ten Spot as Live Shows Set to Begin

Get ready for the ninth season of Nigerian Idol, packed with excitement and talent! After weeks of impressive and hilarious auditions, the top 10 contestants are about to be revealed. The live shows kick off on 26 May on Africa Magic Showcase (DStv channel 151), Africa Magic Family (DStv channel 154) and catch all the auditions from day one and the behind-the-scenes episodes on Nigerian Idol Extra, airing daily on (DStv channel 198).

While nine contestants have already secured their spots, the final top ten spot is still undecided. Viewers now have the chance to vote for either Japh Kenti or Lammy to join the lineup for the live shows.

The top nine contestants, who have wowed the judges through auditions and Theatre Week, are all set to perform for a live audience. Last week's episode featured some familiar faces, with Obi Asika stepping in as a guest judge and past winners Victory Gbakara and Progress offering their insights.

Chioma was the first to secure her spot in the top 10 with a stellar performance of Jennifer Hudson’s "If This Isn’t Love." Mira Clear followed with a captivating rendition of Bob Marley’s "No Woman No Cry," and David Garland impressed with Marvin Gaye’s "What’s Going On."

Other top contenders include Lady Ruth, Stevie, Maio, Gracia, Jennifer Igomu, and Chima, who earned their places with outstanding performances and determination. Chima, a platinum ticket winner, redeemed himself after falling short last season with his rendition of Giveon’s "Stuck on You."

Unfortunately, the journey ended for talented contestants like Mikki, Tari, Sapphire Whinnas, Teddy, Alfred Greatness, Japheth, Dakor, Victor Annie, JayB, and Sammie Voice, whose performances didn't make the cut.

The final spot is now a battle between Japh Kenti, who performed Mario's "Let Me Love You," and Lammy, who gave a unique performance of Teni’s "Case." Viewers can vote for their favorite on the Africa Magic website or mobile site, or through the MyDStv or MyGOtv apps.

Catch all the live performances starting 26 May on Africa Magic Showcase (DStv channel 151) and Africa Magic Family (DStv channel 154) at 7pm WAT. Don’t miss a moment of the action and drama on Nigerian Idol Extra, airing daily on GOtv channel 49.

Join the conversation and vote to decide who will be the 10th contestant in the top 10.
