DStv Content Creator Awards honours local talent

The first-ever DStv Content Creator Awards takes place on Saturday, 10 September. Who will win?

DStv Content Creator Awards honours local talent

South African creatives have been banging the “Open Up The Industry” drum hard for years, because fresh voices from diverse social and economic backgrounds are the lifeblood of not only storytelling, but how we see and shape ourselves as a nation. Or just have a good laugh. And if it takes enormous amounts of money to share ideas and create entertainment, very few voices will ever be heard.

DStv has been working to amplify more voices as part of the Multichoice Talent Factory (previously known as the Magic In Motion Academy). And now we’re spearheading the first-ever DStv Content Creator Awards, which recognises people on the cutting edge of entertainment today.

The awards shine a spotlight on emerging creators and entertainers, bringing them to the attention of people who can help them to take the next step, while celebrating their brilliant work making double-tapping, stitch-worthy, meme-making, share-crazy, keeps-us-coming-back-for-more online content.

The 36-person DStv Content Creator Awards VIP judging panel has sifted through over 1,500 entries in 23 categories and seen the work of more than 900 registered creators, brands, agencies, and influencers – that’s thousands of hours of creative, hilarious, heartfelt, and thumb-stopping content.

These are people who’re shaping their own space in the entertainment industry. And the world is watching. One day you’re a little Lasizwe putting on wigs in your room for LOLs, and the next you have your own show on MTV (DStv Channel 130).

The DStv Content Creator Awards are all about boosting your signal. The awards ceremony will take place on Saturday, 10 September 2022 in Johannesburg.
